- Open the Settings app
- Find the Settings app on your Home Screen. It looks like a gray square with gears on it.
- Tap the Settings icon once to open it.
- Tap "Sign in to your iPhone"
- At the very top of the Settings menu, you will see a banner that says "Sign in to your iPhone."
- Tap that banner to begin the sign-in process.
- If you are already signed in, your name and profile picture will appear here instead. If that is the case, you are already signed in and do not need to continue.
- Choose how to sign in
- A screen will appear with sign-in options. You will see two choices:
- Use Another Apple Device - If you have a second iPhone or iPad already signed in to the same Apple Account, you can bring that device nearby and follow the on-screen prompts. Both devices must have Bluetooth turned on.
- Sign in Manually - Tap this option to type in your email address, phone number, and password.
- For most situations, tap "Sign in Manually" and follow the steps below.
- Enter your Apple Account email address or phone number
- A text field will appear on the screen.
- Tap the text field and type the email address or phone number linked to your Apple Account.
- When you are done typing, tap the blue "Continue" button.
- Enter your Apple Account password
- A new screen will appear asking for your password.
- Tap the password field and type your Apple Account password.
- Tap "Continue" when you are finished.
- If you have forgotten your password, tap "Forgot Password?" on this screen and follow the steps to reset it.
- Complete two-factor authentication (if required)
- If your account has two-factor authentication turned on, Apple will send a 6-digit verification code to one of your trusted phone numbers or another trusted Apple device.
- Check your trusted device or phone number for the code. It will appear as a notification or text message.
- Type the 6-digit code into the field on your iPhone 16e.
- The code expires quickly, so enter it as soon as you receive it.
- Enter your iPhone passcode if prompted
- After verifying your identity, iOS 26 may ask you to enter your iPhone's screen passcode.
- This is the PIN or passcode you use to unlock your iPhone, not your Apple Account password.
- Enter your passcode to continue.
- Wait for sign-in to complete
- Your iPhone will display a "Signing in..." message while it connects to your Apple Account.
- This usually takes just a few seconds. Do not lock your screen or close the app while this is happening.
- Once complete, you will be returned to the Settings menu.
- Confirm you are signed in
- Go back to the top of the Settings app.
- You should now see your name and profile picture displayed at the top, where the "Sign in to your iPhone" banner used to be.
- This confirms that you have successfully signed in to your Apple Account.
